Mann is a Tony nominated playwright and director and a Tony Award winning Artistic Director, having led McCarter Theatre Center for 30 years. Her plays seen on and Off-Broadway, regionally and internationally include: Annulla, An Autobiography; Still Life; Execution of Justice; Betsey Brown, an R&B musical co-authored with Ntozake Shange and Baikida Carroll; Hoodwinked; Greensboro, A Requiem; Having Our Say; Meshugah; Mrs. Packard; and Gloria: a Life.
Her awards include Peabody, Guggenheim, OBIEs, Hull-Warriner, NAACP, Margo Jones, and the Lilly award for Lifetime Achievement.
She is currently working on the stage adaptation of The Pianist and a musical with Lucy Simon, Susan Birkenhead, and Victoria Clark. She has been inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame.
